Description
The SharpeEye UV/IR Optical Flame Detectors 20/20L and 20/20LB (which includes a BIT function) are an improved version of the wellproven Spectrex Ultra Violet/Infra Red (UV/IR) optical flame detectors featuring modem microprocessors and detection algorithms that provide excellent detection sensitivity combined with enhanced immunity to false alarms.
These enhanced models were developed in light of our highly successful experience in highspeed flame detection technology for both military and commercial industrial applications.
Both models are designed to detect hydrocarbon-based fuel fires, hydroxy and hydrogen fire as well as metal and inorganic fires.
The UV/IR flame detector senses energy in the short wave section of both the ultraviolet and infrared portions of the electromagnetic spectrum.
The sensor band pass has been carefully selected to ensure the greatest degree of spectral matching to the radiant energy emissions of fire, and the lowest degree of matching to non-fire stimuli.
The UV sensor incorporates a special logic circuit that helps prevent false alarms caused by solar radiation.
The IR sensor is sensitive to radiation over the range of 2.5 ro 3.0 microns. The signals from both sensors are analyzed for frequency, intensity and duration. Simultaneous matching of radiant energy in both the UV and IR sensors triggers an alarm signal.

    Q1201C Laser Holder is for use with X3301, X3302, X2200, X5200, X9800 and X3300 flame detectors. Easily attaches to the front of Det-Tronics' X-Series flame detectors for use during
    system startup, checkout, and re-alignments. Designed to hold the Laser Aimer (which projects a red beam of laser light) to show exact location of the center of the detector's COV. Two additional holding positions are available for locating the outside edges of the COV at either 30 degrees off center (75 degrees total COV) or at 45 degrees off center (90 degrees total COV). While laser is being used to locate edges of the COV it can be rotated 360 degrees to identify the entire area of flame detection coverage.

Many thousands of these units are now in use controlling the release of extinguishants such as clean agents, CO2, water, or dry chemicals. In some systems the Detect-A-Fire is used as a fire alarm device, to sense overheat or fire and alert personnel. In other systems it is used as a release device, to sense fire and actuate fire attack systems. The Fenwal Detect-A-Fire has met with wide acceptance because it is designed with ""rate compensation."" Rate compensation provides a unique advantage over both fixed temperature and rate-of-rise types of detectors because only the Detect-A-Fire unit accurately senses the surrounding air temperature regardless of the fire growth rate. At precisely the predetermined danger point, the system is activated. The secret of the unit's sensitivity is in the design. The outer shell is made of a rapidly expanding alloy which closely follows changes in surrounding air temperature. The inner struts are made of a lower expanding alloy. Designed to resist thermal energy absorption and sealed inside the shell, the struts follow temperature changes more slowly. A slow rate fire will heat the shell and struts together. At the ""set point,"" the unit will trigger. A transient rush of warm air up to 40F/min. may expand the shell, but not enough to trigger the unit, virtually eliminating false alarms. If a fast rate fire starts, the shell will expand rapidly. The struts will close and the unit will trigger. The faster the fire rate of growth, the sooner the Detect-A-Fire will react. Fenwal Detect-A-Fire units are not position sensitive. Horizontal and vertical detectors refer to the most common mounting configuration for that unit.
