Description

This Field Test Kit allows installers to quickly test the CO sensor on site. The CM-E1 design meets the NFPA 720-2009 standard requiring CO sensor functionality and sensitivity testing effective 2012 and 2015 respectively.

Specifications:

CM E1-FTG - Macurco Carbon Monoxide Field Test Gas 11L 500ppm CO/Air, Aerosol (for use with CME1 CO functionality test)
CM E1-FTK - Macurco Carbon Monoxide Field Verification Gas Kit includes 17L 200ppm CO/Air, regulator, test hood and Tygon tubing (for use with CM-E1 CO sensitivity test)

Caution:
Units to be tested must be powered continuously for a minimum of 3 minutes before proceeding.
For optimum test results the unit should be in clean air and be in a low ambient air flow. If the unit is reading more than 30ppm it will not go into test mode, but will blink red on the LED and double beep every 15 seconds.
Check that the CM-E1 status indicator light is illuminated Green continuously. If not, do not proceed with tests.

CO Functionality Test with =>500ppm and => 10LPM:
Quickly press the TEST/RESET button 5 times. The buzzer will do a quick double beep and the LED will flash Amber alternating with a pause. The units will remain in this mode for 5 minutes or until it passes the quick test.
Aim the nozzle of the aerosol can at the buzzer grate area and press for 4 to 5 seconds.
Wait for a few seconds. The LED should blink Green rapidly and the buzzer should double beep every 15 seconds indicating a pass of the quick test. If this does not occur.
Press the button once to return to normal sensing mode.

CO Sensitivity Test with 200ppm CO and 0.2LPM regulator:
Assemble the gas, regulator and CM-E1 test hood if this has not already been done.
Quickly press the TEST/RESET button five times. The buzzer will do a quick double beep. Hold the button down for three seconds. The LED will start to slowly blink Amber.
Lift the front plastic on the CM-E1 until the buzzer is showing
Insert the CM-E1 test hood onto the end of the sensor just below the buzzer with the printed side of the hood facing the buzzer
Turn on the gas. The LED should start rapidly blinking Amber once it has started to respond to the gas.
Wait for the Green LED to flash rapidly and a double beep from the buzzer every 15 seconds. If this does not occur.
Press the button once to return to normal sensing mode.
Remove test hood.

CM-E1 Trouble Indicator:
Internal failure of the CM-E1 will cause an open circuit in the normally closed (NC) Trouble Relay to provide for actuation of the control panel circuits. The status LED will flash Amber and the CM-E1 buzzer will emit a short “chirp” every 50 seconds. The CM-E1 microprocessor continuously monitors various detector parameters. Failure of the CM-E1’s internal power supply or a lack of power to the detector will result in the status light remaining OFF (not illuminated). In this case, the most common cause of detector trouble would be a break in the wiring between the control panel and the CM-E1.

CM-E1 Errors:
The CM-E1 continuously monitors various internal operating parameters. If a problem is found, the unit will switch to Trouble mode. See CM-E1TROUBLE INDICATOR above. To reset the unit for normal operation, press the TEST/RESET switch, or remove power to the unit, wait a few seconds, then re-apply unit power. If the problem persists, your detector requires repair; contact the alarm panel installer or Macurco Tech Support for advice.

CM-E1 Testing:
The CM-E1 should be tested by pushing the TEST/RESET switch. Normally this will be the only test required for the CM-E1 and is the recommended way to test the unit or units after installation. All CM-E1 units are factory calibrated and 100% tested for proper operation. The unit also has the ability to automatically self test and does so every 2 1/2 minutes. If the unit detects an improper voltage or inoperable component it will default into Trouble mode. Check that the CM-E1 status indicator light is illuminated, Green continuously. If not, do not proceed with the tests.
