In order to keep proper NEMA and UL ratings installers must keep the AC/Heater unit upright at all times, and explicitly follow all manufacturers' installation instructions, including using water-tight fittings on any holes cut into the enclosure.
Mier’s Temperature Controlled Enclosures are built of durable 16-gauge steel and are covered with a protective outdoor, baked-on, powder-coat finish. These metal boxes are designed to provide a degree of protection from rain, sleet, snow, ice, dirt, and dust.
Enclosures ordered with an air conditioner and heater (ACHT) come with holes pre-punched on the left side for easy and quick mounting of the ACHT unit. All of the enclosures come with studs for a Tamper Switch in the top right.
There are no holes (other than those for the ACHT Unit) or knockouts in the enclosure. Exterior mounting brackets, with two holes each, are on the top and bottom of the enclosure. The ACHT units ship on a separate skid from the enclosures and must ship via LTL carrier.
Temperature controlled boxes with internal heat load of 200 watts: When Mier’s recommended 2000 BTU AC Unit with internal 500W Heater is installed and functioning properly, the BW-124 or the BW-136 will maintain a preset temperature (+/-3 degrees F). This unit is capable of maintaining an 80° F internal temperature (+/- 3 degrees F) up to an outside temperature of 135° F
When Mier’s recommended 2000 BTU AC Unit with internal 500W Heater is installed and functioning properly, the BW-124 maintains a preset temperature (+/-3 degrees F) up to a maximum of 60° F internal temperature down to outside temperatures of -20° F
When Mier’s recommended 2000 BTU AC Unit with internal 500W Heater is installed and functioning properly, the BW-136 maintains a preset temperature (+/-3 degrees F) up to a maximum of 60° F internal temperature down to outside temperatures of -10° F
