The ProtecPoint door monitor is a detection device used primarily as a departure alarm, and is mounted near a door or an exitway. The monitor projects an RF (radio frequency) detection field around the exit. As a transponder (a wrist or asset tag) enters the field, it reacts to the field and emits a signal that is received by the monitor, which can then sound and display an alarm or activate a device. The ProtecPoint monitor can be used to:

• alert staff if tagged residents or property approach a monitored exit,
• open a locked door or activate other equipment if the monitor is connected to the lock or equipment, or
• allow a resident or property through the exit if accompanied by a bypass tag (optional keypad required).

The monitor is easy to install and uses high-reliability RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) technology to ensure accurate detection. An optional wireless keypad can be installed to control bypass functions, clear alarms, and set user passwords.

The door monitor works with light-weight wrist tags for residents, small asset tags for moveable property and bypass tags for staff. If you purchase the optional wireless keypad, you can program the monitor in several ways. You can add up to 20 bypass passwords for facility staff, you can program the monitor to recognize up to 15 bypass tags, and you can set the monitor to operate in either a fixed duration (non-latching) or continuous (latching) alarm mode.
