Description

Amplifier

The amplifier is a supervised voice/alarm signaling interface that provides alarm signal tones which may be overridden by voice messages. The amplifier is attached to the reverse polarity bell circuit of a fire alarm control panel. The amplifier, signal generator, and speaker lines are continuously supervised. When a trouble condition occurs in the voice system, it is automatically indicated on the fire alarm control panel.

Primary Microphone

The microphone is attached to the amplifier and mounted in the cabinet. It provides the system with the ability to generate voice evacuation messages and paging instructions.

Digital Message Repeater

The digital message repeater broadcasts a prerecorded message over the system’s speakers upon receipt of an alarm condition. The unit initially broadcasts a “Slow Whoop,” waits for five seconds, then plays the recorded message. On the standard unit, the five-second pause and the message are repeated three times. The message and number of times it is repeated are programmable.

Zone Splitter

The zone splitter provides a mechanism to separate the speaker wiring configuration into four independently supervised loops, thus avoiding a long, continuous wire run through multiple areas. Separation of the speaker loops will allow selected alarm notification and paging and improve serviceability.

Power Supply

The system is designed to operate from the fire alarm control panel’s power. However, it may be desirable to provide an independent power supply for the voice/alarm signaling system. The optional unit available is a 24 VDC 3.5 amp power supply with an integral battery charger. Batteries are available separately. Minimum requirements are two 7A/H 12-volt batteries.

Remote Microphone

When approved by the authority having jurisdiction, the remote microphone station provides the system with the ability to have Day-to Day paging capability. When an alarm condition occurs, the remote microphone will be automatically disabled, so as not to interfere with alarm signal messaging.
