The NX-592E-GSM-ZWAVE-TM from GE Security is a NetworX Wireless Alarm.com GSM Module, Z-Wave for TMobile Network.

Using the NX-592E-GSM NetworX wireless Alarm.com GSM module, NetworX owners can control and monitor the status of their security system from the Alarm.com website. Control security, notifications, history and authentication through a digital GSM data network. Operation of the NetworX system from the Alarm.com web interface is simple and allows system access any time, from any location. Features from Alarm.com include managing your customer account, viewing system status and history, and arming your system. Use the GSM wireless network to be notified of system events by e-mail, PDA or phone. Web-enabled features depend on selected service packages from Alarm.com and may vary. The wireless module interfaces with the NetworX panel data bus and is powered by the panel. Status LEDs indicate bus and GSM network communications. For added peace of mind, an optional case-tamper detection switch is available. The switch activates an alarm or trouble signal when the module cover is removed. The ELK-M1XZW is a radio transceiver interface designed to allow an M1 Controller to interface with Z-Wave enabled devices. Z-Wave technology is a wireless bi-directional communications network consisting of devices such as: Plug-in Dimmer Modules, Wall Mount Switches and Dimmers, Plug-in Appliance Modules, Motion/Occupancy Sensors, and HVAC Thermostats. The M1XZW interface functions as a Z-Wave Secondary Controller OR as a Z-Wave Static Update Controller (SUC) for holding the Z-Wave system setup programming. The interface connects to the M1 RS-485 data bus and is enrolled and identified as a Type 5 Expander. As such, it may be remotely located anywhere along the RS-485 data bus within the maximum stated distance limits. The housing is designed for wall mounting and includes mounting screws and anchors. Z-Wave is a trademark of Zensys, Inc.

ELK-M1XSLZW  M1 to Leviton Z-Wave Interface GE 45600 Z-Wave Basic Handheld Remote
The M1XSLZW is a specialized Elk-M1 serial expander for connecting an M1 Control to Z-Wave enabled devices through a Leviton VRC0P+3 Z-Wave Serial Interface. Z-Wave is a wireless, low power, "mesh" network technology widely used for automating devices such as: Lights, Thermostats, Electronic Locks, etc. Z-Wave empowers devices to be remotely controlled from across the room or across the world with benefits such as energy savings, convenience, and comfort.

The VRC0P+3 is known as a Z-Wave Secondary Controller. It must be included as a permanent member of the Z-Wave network as its job is to maintain contact with all Z-Wave devices. It communicates via RS232 to the M1XSLZW which translates the protocol into the M1 control. This allows commands to be sent and received on the Z-Wave network.

Functionally the M1XSLZW is a serial expander (RS485 to RS232) and shares the same TYPE 5 databus ID as M1XSP serial expanders. A maximum of seven (7) TYPE 5 serial expanders may be connected to an M1.

A key benefit of combining the M1XSLZW and VRC0P+3 is the ability to interface with new generation Z-Wave devices such as the electronic deadbolts and locksets from Kwikset, Yale, and Schlage. Locks require a special Security Encrypted (SE) protocol and a process called "Beaming". Both the M1XSLZW and the VRC0P+3 support these new requirements.

In general, any Z-Wave device that is compatible with the Leviton VRC0P+3 should also be compatible with the M1. However some devices may have limited functionality due to design or feature differences.
