FM Systems ALM673 Audio Level Master Audio AGC (Dual Mono or Stereo)

The ALM673 Audio Level Master stabilizes audio volume level by adjusting gain so that the output volume remains constant even if the input level is not constant. A switch on the back enables the Audio Level Master to operate in the stereo mode, or as two independent monaural Audio Level Masters.

 

The ALM673 differs from the ALM672 in that it contains two control systems so that is can operate in the dual mono mode. Each ALM673 card can handle one stereo channel or two monaural audio channels. Very sophisticated, program dependent, level control systems prevent "ducking" of background sound when doors slam or guns go off, and also prevents background sound from becoming louder just because foreground speech stops. A dual L.E.D display monitors the degree of program control being exerted on each of the two channels. Each of the two channels can control input variations over a 30 dB range while holding output volume within 0.5 dB.

Each ALM673 card contains one full stereo or two mono channels, and three cards fit in one PMS610 mainframe.

 

Since the PMS610 main- frame only occupies one rack space (1.75 inches), the Audio Level Master needs very little of the scarce rack space in the cable head-end. Thus one PMS610 mainframe can provide audio level control for up to 6 monaural channels or three stereo channels. The switch enables easy conversion from monaural channels to stereo channels.
