Description
IS820 Analog Addressable duct smoke detectors provide early detection of smoke and products of combustion present in air moving through an HVAC duct. These devices are designed for prevention of smoke re-circulation in areas by the air handling system (s). Fans, blowers, and complete systems may be shut down directly by the two 10A form “C” alarm relays provided in the duct smoke unit when smoke is detected.
 
The duct detector requires an external 24VDC supply, so as not to load down the analog addressable loop (SLC). Visual indicators, pilot and alarm, are mounted on the housing front for status indication. A manual test alarm relay switch is also provided on the front of the detector. Remote accessories can be accommodated.
 
The IS820 utilizes a Harrington Signal, Inc photoelectric (-P) or ionization (-N) analog addressable detector head which is included with the unit.These devices have unique features that benefit the installer and the end user; it’s user friendly addressing, extended data and alarm feature meet the demands of today's high-technology environments, codes and standards, as well as providing additional life safety functionality.
 
Each Harrington Signal, Inc duct detector is supplied with an X-pert card. In order to set the proper address, consult the addressing guide. Place a screwdriver in the pip's slit and five it a firm twist. Removal of the proper pip(s) completes the addressing procedure. Slide the coded xpert card into the side of the base, making sure it locks in position. Once the detector head is placed into the base, the remaining pips will operate the address buttons on the detector head and the address will be read by the head's electronics.
 
 Factory pre-programmed X-Pert cards which have the appropriate address pips removed, and the address number silk screened on the protruding tab can be purchased if desired.
Air sampling is accomplished by two tubes which protrude in the duct. An exhaust tube of one standard length (7”) is provided with the detector housing.Intake sampling tubes, which must be ordered sparately, are supplied in three standard lengths.

    The PAM Series Relays are encapsulated multi-voltage devices with “flying” leads that offer versatile, reliable performance in a convenient package. Several of the versions contain a red LED which indicates when the relay coil is energized. The PAM Series Relays are packaged with a self-tapping screw and a piece of double sided tape for easy installation almost anywhere. The relays are also packaged with wire-nuts to aid installation.

    APPLICATION

     

    The SLR-24V can be used in all areas where Photoelectric

    Smoke Detectors are required. The wide range

    smoke chamber makes the SLR-24V well suited for fires

    ranging from smoldering to flaming fires.

    NS-4 Series, NS-6 Series, HSC-4R or HSC-xxx R Style

    bases may be used with the SLR-24V. Current

    interchangeable/compatible devices are the SIJ-24

    ionization detector, the SLR-24H photoelectric detector

    with heat sensor, and the DCD-135/190 heat detectors.

    All NS conventional devices are mechanically

    compatible with Hochiki America HSB, HSC and YBA

    type bases which may have been used in previous

    installations. Please check individual panel listings for

    compatible bases.

     

    OPERATION

     

    The SLR-24V photoelectric smoke detector utilizes two

    bicolored LEDs for indication of status. In a normal

    standby condition the LEDs flash Green every 3 seconds.

    When the detector senses that its sensitivity has

    drifted outside the UL listed sensitivity window the LEDs

    will flash Red every 3 seconds. When the detector

    senses smoke and goes into alarm the status LEDs will

    latch on Red.

    The detector utilizes an infrared LED light source and

    silicon photo diode receiving element in the smoke chamber.

    In a normal standby condition, the receiving element

    receives no light from the pulsing LED light source.

    In the event of a fire, smoke enters the detector smoke

    chamber and light is reflected from the smoke particles

    to the receiving element. The light received is converted

    into an electronic signal.

    Signals are processed and compared to a reference level,

    and when two consecutive signals exceeding the reference

    level are received within a specified period of time,

    the time delay circuit triggers the SCR switch to activate

    the alarm signal. The status LEDs light continuously

    during the alarm period.
