FM Systems VLM473A Video Source Loss Indicator

TheVLM473 VIDEO LOSS MONITOR is a device that monitors base-band video transmission. When video is interrupted for any reason the VLM473 inserts its own video sync pulses as a "KEEP ALIVE GENERATOR" and displays the message "SOURCE OFF" on the your video monitor. It is field programmable and can display numbers "SOURCE 1 OFF" to identify the source of the lost video.

 

Internal Jumpers are used to program the numbers. When the source video returns the VLM473 turns off its internal generator and returns to monitor mode. In the monitor mode the VLM473 has no active components in the video path, so it will not impair the source video in any way. The source video path is also not interrupted by a power failure.

 

The unit provides two BNC connectors for video. Simply install the unit in the video path at any point you wish to monitor and plug in the power supply. The power on LED indicates when the VLM473 is generating video. This unit can be used in Distance Learning applications, Microwave transmission, or anywhere base-band video is used.

 

The unit is housed in an ABS enclosure that has a UL flame rating of 94-VO and is powered by a 24VAC power transformer. The system has provisions for battery back-up.
